    SF Police Clear Suspicious Device in Mission District

    San Francisco police late Monday shut down Valencia Street from 20th to 23rd streets in the Mission District while officers investigated a suspicious device. Jean Elle reports. (Published Monday, Aug. 5, 2019)

    San Francisco police late Monday shut down Valencia Street from 20th to 23rd streets in the Mission District while officers investigated a suspicious device.

    The device was reported just after 4 p.m., and police deemed the scene safe nearly four hours later. 

    The area just east of Dolores Park was closed off while a bomb squad investigated the device.

    Witnesses also reported seeing officers armed with rifles responding to the scene.

    No other information was immediately available.
