San Francisco Police Identify Teen Suspect in Officer-Involved Shooting, Robbery Series

Eddie Tilman, 18, is accused of ramming police officers with a car and participating in robbery series

San Francisco police today identified a teenager who was shot after allegedly ramming officers with a car in the city's Bayview District last month, and said he is part of a trio who committed a robbery series prior to the shooting.

Eddie Tillman, 18, was identified as the suspect in the March 5 incident on George Court, where he allegedly backed a stolen vehicle toward officers, striking an officer and prompting two others to open fire, hitting him, police said.

Tillman suffered only minor injuries in the shooting, and the officer who was struck by the car also suffered minor injuries, according to police.

Investigators eventually linked Tillman to a series of robberies that occurred around the city on March 4 and 5 in which he and other suspects allegedly used a distinctive long-barrel shotgun, police said.

Travell Council, 19, and a juvenile suspect were arrested along with Tillman for the robberies, according to police.

Tillman and Council were arraigned last Wednesday in San Francisco Superior Court on charges of carjacking, two counts of robbery, two counts of attempted robbery and child endangerment, district attorney's office spokesman Alex Bastian said.

Tillman was also charged with an additional count of robbery and receiving stolen property, and Council was charged with contempt of court and resisting arrest, Bastian said.

The pair will return to court on April 9 to set a preliminary hearing.
