Man Rescued After Getting Stuck on Rocks at Sutro Baths

A man hoping to snap a scenic picture at Sutro Baths in San Francisco had to be rescued Monday afternoon due to rising surf, according to a fire department official.

Two rescuers swam to save the man after he got stuck on some rocks at Sutro Baths shortly before 3 p.m. All three then got back in the water and waded through the waves, going from rock to rock until all three were back on shore.

The man had walked out on the rocks to take a picture and turned around to realize his path had been submerged, fire department spokesman Jonathan Baxter said.

No one was injured.

A high surf advisory issued by the National Weather Service for the San Francisco area was in effect until 4 p.m. Monday. Baxter said it's important for residents to heed warnings about high surf and exercise caution around the shoreline.
