San Francisco Residents Concerned Most About Homeless Problem: Chamber of Commerce

A poll conducted by the Chamber of Commerce found that the city's sizable homeless population is the top concern of San Francisco residents.

Jim Lazarus, the Chamber's senior vice president, told SFGate, "Homelessness has always been a big issue, but never like this."

Just 29 percent of respondents found it to be most pressing in 2014, but that's soared to 51 percent in this year's CityBeat Poll.

In those results, homelessness is followed by affordability of rent, cost of owning a home, Muni and crime, drugs and gangs.

47 percent of those polled said they think the quality of life in San Francisco is getting worse, but 79 percent plan to stay in the city in the next few years.
