San Francisco Set to Vote on $15 Minimum Wage

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - San Francisco voters are set to decide whether to raise the city's minimum wage to $15 an hour after supervisors agreed to put the measure on the November ballot.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the supervisors voted unanimously and without comment in favor of the measure on Tuesday. Mayor Ed Lee said in a statement supporting the minimum wage hike that San Francisco had become an expensive place for working families, and a few dollars more an hour would make a big difference for the city's lowest-paid workers.

The city's current minimum wage is $10.74 an hour. The measure would increase it gradually over the next several years until it reached $15 an hour in 2018.
