San Francisco Students to Walk in Annual Peace Parade

Students from St. Finn Barr Catholic School in San Francisco will join together Thursday morning in an annual parade to promote peace, school officials said.

More than 300 kindergarten through 8th grade students, parents and school leaders will walk in the 8th annual Peace Parade in the city's Sunnyside neighborhood from 11:15 a.m. to noon. The parade starts at the schoolyard at 415 Hearst Ave.

School officials said the parade is meant promote peace in the community, nation and world and students will walk with signs highlighting groups that work for the sake of peace.

Police and firefighters will line the streets to advocate for peace along with the students. Residents along the parade route are typically out waving and watching, according to organizers.

The Archbishop Riordan High School marching band will provide a soundtrack for the parade.
