San Francisco's First Gay Sports Bar to Open

Bar owners say they plan to be up and running in the fall.

Believe it or not, San Francisco's first "gay sports bar" will open this fall.

Hi Tops will open in the shuttered Castro home of Lime and it will cater to gay sports fan who want to enjoy everything from a San Francisco Giants game to an international soccer match.

"I've played in San Francisco's gay sports leagues for years and there wasn't really anywhere for us to go out afterward," co-owner Jesse Woodward told The Huffington Post. "Of course there are a few great bars with the Giants game on, but when we were looking for a serious sports bar, nowhere fit the bill."

The bar will operate with the tag line ""Cold Pitchers, Hot Catchers." Woodward says it will serve lunch, dinner and a late-night menu.

Construction on the old building has not started yet but the bar's owners plan to have it up and running in just a few months.
