San Jose Diridon Station Area Plan Approved

When your BART train stops at Diridon Station in San Jose one day, the doors will open onto a new world: one with hotels, apartments, shopping and R&D space.

And maybe even the Oakland Athletics.

The 250 acres around Diridon Station, which is the city's biggest Caltrain station for now, is approved to someday house a lot more, according to the Silicon Valley Business Journal.

The area right now has SAP Center, where the Sharks play, as well as the parcel of land San Jose wants to use to build a baseball park for the A's.

The city recently OK'd a scheme that would see almost 5 million square feet of office space as well as hotels, residential units, retail and high-speel rail in the vicinity.
