San Jose Family's Moving Truck Ransacked; Wedding Dress, Family Photos Stolen

A South Bay family is asking for help to track down thieves who ransacked their moving truck, stealing many personal belongings, including family photos, and even a wedding dress.

The Schachter family tells The Mercury News they hired a moving company to move their stuff from San Jose to Alexandria, Virginia. The movers apparently parked the truck at Trusted Van Lines on Junction Avenue, in San Jose, and dropped the keys in an overnight box.

The family says, when the company opened for business the next day, the truck was gone.

Los Gatos police found the van in front of a home on Granada Way, near Winchester Boulevard and Highway 85, but all the expensive items, like TVs and furniture, was gone.

And so are personal items, including the American flag the family received at the funeral of a family member.

Anyone who wants to return the items can mail them anonymously to the South Valley Family YMCA on Santa Teresa Boulevard in San Jose.
