San Jose Tops List of Healthiest Cities for Women

Self Magazine declares San Jose tops, San Francisco third.

San Jose is the healthiest city in the United States. For women, that is.

Self Magazine are the self-imposed experts on this topic, but there's science behind the ranking, according to the Huffington Post. After all, 84 percent of women in San Jose exercise, according to the magazine, and only eight percent of women smoke. That's healthy.

Plus, there's 100 miles of interconnected trails, according to the magazine. "And [San Jose] has bike sharing, too," the magazine reported.

99.8 percent of women in San Jose wear a seat belt, "and they eat tons of fruits and veggies when compared with the average."

"People work hard and play hard," one San Jose woman told SELF.

Should the women of San Francisco rise up and go to a spin class in protest, women by the bay should know that they're the third-healthiest in the United States. Too many happy hours? Well, San Franciscans will say their restaurants are better, anyway.

The rankings judge 58 categories including sleep, weight, farmers markets versus fast food, air quality and weather, according to reports.
