San Jose police are investigating a fatal light-rail accident that occurred late Monday night, a San Jose police officer said.
Officer Jose Garcia said a collision between a Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority light-rail train and a pedestrian was reported around 11:43 p.m.
Spokeswoman Brandi Childress said the light-rail train hit a pedestrian on the right of way between the Component and Karina stations, just south of the North First Street and East Trimble Avenue intersection at 11:41 p.m.
The victim who died after the crash has only been identified as a man. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
Light-rail service was running back on schedule Tuesday morning.
