San Jose Police Investigate Man's Stabbing Death, 18th Homicide

San Jose police officers began investigating the stabbing death of a man early Thursday morning, declaring it the city's 18th homicide of the year.

Not much else was immediately known, other than the man who was killed with at "least one stab wound," and was Latino and in his 30s, police said.

Officer Albert Morales said police were called out just after 1:20 a.m. to the 500 block of Piercy Road in South San Jose.

When officers arrived they found a man with "visible injuries, unconscious and not breathing," Morales said.  The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The motive and circumstances surrounding death death are still under investigation. Tire marks on scene seemed to indicate earlier it could have been a possible hit-and-run.

Officers spent much of Wednesday morning canvassing the neighborhood for evidence and witnesses, turning a long line of motorists away as a portion of the road was closed during the investigation.
