San Jose Man Arrested in Woman's Death: Police

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman in downtown San Jose, police said late Monday.

At 10:21 a.m., officers responded to a condominium complex at 25 South 3rd Street for a welfare check. When police arrived, they discovered a dead woman, who had been stabbed at least once, police said.

Police said a preliminary investigation revealed the victim and suspect, identified as San Jose resident Hugo Castro, had a prior dating relationship. The condo where the woman was found belongs to a third person, according to police.

The victim's name is not being released until the coroner's officer confirms her identity and notifies her family, police said.

Police said Castro will be booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of murder.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sgt. Rick Yu or Detective Wayne Smith of SJPD's homicide unit at 408-277-5283.
