San Jose Police Negotiate With Barricade Suspect Allegedly Armed With Knife

A man who barricaded himself inside an East San Jose home Friday evening allegedly armed with a knife has been taken into custody, police said.

The suspect, who was arrested on domestic violence and assault charges, was taken to a hospital for self-inflicted injuries.

Officers responded at 11:15 a.m. to the 200 block of King Road to reports of a man entering a home with a second man, unknown to the victim.

The first man has a restraining order against him.

The residents left the home and called police, and the suspects remained inside the house. They did not comply with orders to exit the home, police said.

Officers approached the home to enter it at about 2:30 p.m., but the suspect armed himself with a knife and closed the door. Police retreated and tried to negotiate with the suspect.

The second suspect emerged from the home at 4:33 p.m., but the original suspect was still inside, according to police.

Northbound and southbound lanes of King Road have been reopened. Residents who were evacuated from their homes earlier have been allowed to return, police said at 5:15 p.m.
