More than 200 volunteers joined forces on Friday to build a new San Jose Sharks-themed playground.
The design of the playground at Sherman Oaks Park is based on children's drawings created in a design contest.
"We want kids to have a safe place to play," said Heather Hooper, manager of the San Jose Sharks Foundation.
The effort is a partnership between non-profit KaBOOM!, the Campbell Unified School District, Pueblo de Dios Church and the San Jose Parks Foundation, and the the Sharks Foundation. The goal was to create a playground for an undeserved area of West San Jose.
