San Jose Shooting Leaves No Leads

SJPD continues to look for witnesses to an overnight shooting.

One man is in the hospital after being shot several times along a sidewalk on Hayes Avenue in south San Jose.

The shooter has gotten away, at least for the meantime. What could complicate this case for the San Jose Police Department is that there don't appear to be many, if any witnesses.

People in the apartment complex adjacent to the scene said they heard multiple gunshots, but, as far as investigators know, no one actually saw the crime take place.

The shooting took place just after midnight. The best -- and perhaps only -- eyewitness is the victim himself -- a 35-year-old man from San Jose who is laid up in a hospital bed right now trying to recover from multiple gunshot wounds.

In spite of being shot several times, he is expected to survive.

Police don't know if he knew his shooter or if this was a random attack.

Sgt. Brian Misener, when asked if people should be concerned, said, "It's still under investigation."
