Police Searching For San Jose Teens Suspected in New Year's Day Bar Shooting

Suspects responsible for city's first homicide of 2015, authorities say

Two male teens are considered suspects in a shooting that killed a man and wounded another at a bar on East Capitol Expressway in East San Jose early on New Year's Day, a police spokeswoman said.

Police believe the suspects, Sai Hoang Le, 19, and Nam Nguyennhut Huynh, 18, are responsible for murdering Alexander Thach Nguyen at the Reign Lounge near McLaughlin Avenue, police Sgt. Heather Randol said.

At 12:30 a.m. Jan. 1, police responded to report of a person shot at the nightclub at 1071 E. Capitol Expressway and arrived to find two men suffering from gunshot wounds, Randol said.

Both wounded men were taken to a hospital where Nguyen died and the second victim, who is not being identified, was treated and released, she said.

The motive for the shooting is not known. Suspects Le and Huynh are considered armed and dangerous, Randol said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the case or of the suspects' whereabouts to call the homicide unit at (408) 277-5382 or phone the Silicon Valley Crime Stopper anonymous tip line at (408) 947-7867.
