San Jose's Sobrato Building Gets a Tenant

An iconic San Jose building will be alive with people by next summer

After sitting empty for years, a jewel of downtown San Jose is finally about to come to life.

That is the word from the mayor of San Jose who says he's celebrating the news that a downtown landmark building has finally found a tenant.

The Sobrato building has been looking for someone to move in for more than seven years. Some 1,200 workers at the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) will move down the street from their current offices which were at 10 Almaden.  Sobrato is 488 Almaden Blvd.

Because this is a transfer and not a new business to San Jose's downtown, this is not a net gain for the city, but getting anyone in the beautiful Sobrato location is seen as a win by many residents and city leaders alike.

PWC signed a 15 year lease and that is good news for San Jose because it shows the company's commitment to stay in the South Bay. PWC Managing Partner Rob Gittings said in a press release that PWC is moving in part because it is planning for a increase in staffing over the next few years.
