San Leandro Man Suspected of Posing as Teenager, Engaging in Sex Acts With Minor

San Leandro police said on Thursday that they have arrested a 40-year-old Patterson man on suspicion of engaging in sex acts with a girl who is under the age of 14.

About two weeks, Ian Teager posed as a 14-year-old boy and met the young girl on a social media site, according to police.

Police said Teager then met the victim in person in San Leandro and drove her to an East Oakland motel, where several sexual acts occurred.

Teager was arrested that same night and has since been charged by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office with four felonies involving sex acts with a minor under the age of 14, according to police.

He's scheduled to appear on those charges in Alameda County Superior Court in Hayward at 9 a.m. Friday.

San Leandro police said investigators have learned that Teager has victimized other young females in other parts of the Bay Area and the Central Valley. However, police don't know the identities of those victims and they hope that publicizing Teager's arrest will bring other victims forward.

San Leandro police are slated to release additional details, as well as safety tips for teens and parents, at a news conference at their headquarters at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
