Medical Issue Prompts Multi-Car Collision Outside San Leandro Walmart

A three-car collision in a San Leandro Walmart parking lot injured four people, police said Wednesday.

The incident was reported outside the store on 15555 Hesperian Boulevard, police said.

Investigators determined that a person reversing from a parking stall had a medical issue, and accelerated. The driver then sideswiped another car traveling south through the parking lot.

The driver of the first car then crashed into an empty pickup truck, parked near disabled parking lots close to Walmart's main entrance. The truck was pushed into the car next to it, in which three people were seated.

The trio suffered from minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Police do not believe the accident was an "intentional act," and are not pursuing a criminal investigation, they said.
