San Leandro Woman Finds Stolen Goods on Craigslist

A San Leandro woman thought she'd never see her stolen items again, but she and her family saw them turning up on Craigslist.

When a San Leandro woman came home from dinner and found her home was burglarized she was devastated.

"Most of what they took had real emotional value, that couldn't be replaced really," said the victim, who asked not to be identified.

She reported the theft to San Leandro police and figured that was the end of it. But family members started monitoring Craigslist looking for the jewelry to be posted for sale. Sure enough they found a watch, bracelet and laptop that looked familiar and the contact number for all of the items was the same.

The family didn't call the seller but they did call police.

Officers moved fast to follow up, spending several days trying to set up a sting. When the seller agreed to meet police moved in for an arrest and recovered some of those irreplaceable treasures.

The victim says she is stunned to have the jewelry back and grateful for a police department that is willing to take the time to crack her case.
