San Ramon police are looking for a young man they believe was trying to lure a young girl into his car Saturday morning.

Police were called at 11:12 a.m. Saturday to where Broadmoor Drive crosses the Cross Valley Trail, near Pine Valley Middle School. A bystander told police he saw a "newer, light gray sedan" pull over abruptly to where a 13-year-old girl was walking home from the middle school.

The girl walked away quickly from the car; she was on her cell phone with her mother when the stranger drove up to her, police said.

The citizen asked the girl what had happened, and she said the car's driver told her to get in his car. That man called police, and the man and the girl waited for the officer to arrive.

Police are looking for a man in his 20s, of unknown race with light brown skin and curly brown hair.

Officers are searching for more witnesses and for video surveillance that may have captured the suspect's vehicle.
