The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is offering dogs and puppies at half price due to an "overload" of adoptable animals at the shelter this spring.
The homeless dogs include 4-month-old Fizz, a white Siberian Husky and German Shepherd blend, Boris, a 5-year-old Terrier mix, and featured pup Gunther, a playful and curious 4-year-old Pit Bull Terrier.
Prices usually run $195 for puppies, $130 for dogs and $60 for senior dogs, but the shelter will offer discounted rates through April 15.
The price includes spaying or neutering, micro-chipping and registration, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments and a free wellness exam.
"SCCAS appreciates and applauds people who make the life-saving decision to adopt a homeless animal," the shelter said in a statement. "Come on over to visit Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter's adoptable animals, and be prepared to fall in love!"
The shelter is located at 2200 Seventh Ave., Santa Cruz, and is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
