7 Laptops Stolen From San Jose After-School Nonprofit

An inside job is suspected in the theft of seven laptops from a San Jose after-school learning nonprofit.

The San Jose Mercury News reported that ALearn workers discovered a "jimmied" lock and $7,000 worth of missing computers at their Stevens Creek Boulevard offices.

The theft was caught on camera: an unknown man was filmed entering the office and walking "determinedly across the room," the newspaper reported.

Kathryn Hanson, ALearn's CEO, told reporters that the unidentified thief "knew exactly where everything was," suggesting intimate familiarity with the surroundings.

The computers are not covered by insurance and police say there's "slim to none" chance of recovering the stolen equipment.
