Sheriff's K-9 Unit Makes Major Drug Bust in Napa County

A K-9 deputy with the Napa County Sheriff's Office was credited with a large drug bust after a traffic stop earlier this month, according to Napa Valley Canine Foundation.

Apollo, a German shepherd K-9 unit, alerted deputies of narcotics inside a vehicle they had pulled over in the Redwood Road area of the city of Napa. Both of the vehicle's occupants were on probation or parole, the foundation said.

After a search prompted by Apollo's alert, deputies found a large amount of suspected cocaine, scales, packaging material, a large amount of cash and a loaded handgun, the foundation said.

Both suspects were arrested and booked into county jail.

The Napa Valley Canine Foundation is a nonprofit corporation created to support the K-9 officers at the Napa County Sheriff’s Office, according to its Facebook page.
