Shooting at Livermore Party Injures Five People; Arrest Made

A man has been arrested, as police continue to investigate a shooting Sunday morning in Livermore that sent five people to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting occurred at approximately 12:28 a.m. at a residence in the 200 block of South Q Street, according to the Livermore Police Department.

Police said officers were in the area of South Q Street when they heard several gunshots. At the same time, police received multiple calls reporting shots fired at a nearby residence.

Police said the callers reported several people injured from gunshots.

Responding officers learned there was a house party at the residence, and during the party, some of the attendees got into a verbal altercation.

Police said three men were kicked out of the party and about 30 minutes later, a white sedan drove up to the house, and someone inside the car began shooting at people attending the party.

Three women and two men were shot and transported to the hospital.

Officers detained three people considered to be "persons of interest." They were questioned but not arrested.

Torres was arrested during a traffic stop and was taken to Santa Rita Jail on five counts of attempted murder, and one count of shooting into an inhabited dwelling.

Authorities said the shootings are shocking to the community.

"This is actually very unexpected for the city of Livermore," Livermore police spokesman Steve Goard said. "We normally don't have crimes like this, drive-by shootings with multiple people injured like this. It definitely kinda is a little shocking for us to experience."
