Silicon Valley Millionaire Declared Innocent Of Sex Crime

Clyde Berg, a 75-year old Silicon Valley multimillionaire, was declared "factually innocent" of a brutal and graphic sex crime against his wife, who concocted "an elaborate fraud" to try and defame him, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Berg was accused by his 37-year old wife, Ellena, of raping her "repeatedly with his golf putter" while she was nine months pregnant and "chained at gunpoint to a bed," the newspaper reported.

Prosecutors dropped criminal charges filed following her accusations, and on Friday, a judge cleared his name entirely, calling Ellana Berg a "liar," the newspaper reported.

Clyde Berg is the brother of Carl Berg, who, as the original developer and landlord of many top Silicon Valley companies' campuses, is "one of the richest men in the United States," the newspaper reported.

It was supposedly some of this money that Ellena was after, according to the paper, and her graphic and lurid accusation was part of a scheme to get "around a restrictive prenuptial agreement."

Berg was jailed for eight days and spent millions in legal fees -- and was constantly attacked in the tabloid press, the Mercury News reported.

Meanwhile, Ellena Berg lost her claim in divorce court, meaning Berg no longer has to pay her anything. She could also face criminal charges for lying to police.
