Man's best friend and Guinness World Record Holder Abbie, claimed the title of "World Surf Dog Champion" Saturday morning in Pacifica.
This was a home reunion of sorts for Abbie, who had been adopted at the Humane Society of Silicon Valley.
Owner, Michael Uy, said he found her at the shelters after she was abandoned on the side of the road.
Now, she follows him everywhere - land, air or water.
While open water swimming, Abbie ran out to join her human in the water. Uy said that this was how they discovered that she had a talent for riding the waves.
Now a decorated, recorded-holding "surf dog," she holds the world record for longest wave surfed by a canine and travels to various competitions in the United States.
The surfer usually donates her prizes to the local animal shelter.
This time, Abbie and her owner will be donating to the Human Society, the local shelter that brought the two together.
