Silicon Valley Restaurant Week Firing Up Soon

Less-expensive dining out runs Nov 3-10

It's almost an embarrassment of riches around here these days. The home team is in the World Series. Fall weather is settling in --providing a perfect excuse to show off that new coat or sweater you've been dying to be seen in. And the Silicon Valley Restaurant Week starts Nov. 3.

Does that list seem incongruous? Well who doesn't feel better having beaten back the rest of the National League, while sporting a new camel's-hair coat on your way out to try a brand-new restaurant on the cheap?

The time has come to finally sample Polish cuisine, for instance. Or maybe that seafood restaurant you pass on your commute is feeling a little more enticing. From San Jose to Cupertino to Menlo Park, there are finds to be had, fellow gastronomes.

The SVRW people have wrangled about 70 area restaurants into participating in a fixed-price, three-course menu -- at two price points. For either $25 or $35 you'll not only get an appetizer, entree and dessert, but you'll also get to support locally owned, small businesses. And it's been a tough year all over, so this could be just the shot in the arm needed to keep up the Bay's reputation for outstanding eating-out.

The quickest way to keep up with what's being offered is their Facebook page. And here's a complete -- and growing -- list of the restaurants involved.
