Six Arrested for Christmas Eve Burglaries, Gifts Were Stolen From at Least One Home's Tree

Police in Newark have made arrests and recovered stolen items from at least one home that was burglarized on Christmas Eve.

Newark police said they caught the thieves who stole Christmas gifts from a family NBC Bay Area spoke to on Thursday. The Torres family were left with a very bare Christmas after burglars broke in and cleared out their gifts.

But on Thursday, the police department teamed up with Alameda County firefighters to deliver donated gifts to them.

Officers executed search warrants on three homes in Newark directly related to burglaries that occurred on Tuesday, police said Saturday.

During the search warrants, four adults and two juveniles were arrested for three burglaries. Stolen property from at least one home that had been burglarized was recovered and positively identified, police said.
