Snubbed Montana: 49ers QB Explains Candlestick Absence

Montana missed finale on "worst field" ever.

Do you visit your old boss after you move on?

Joe Montana has no love for his old employer, or his old workplace, either.

The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, who helped build the franchise into the legendary team of the 80s, told radio interviewers on Wednesday that he missed the Dec. 23, 2013 finale of Candlestick Park because, well -- he wasn't a "big fan."

That, and his son Nick had a game that day -- for Tulane, in a bowl game in New Orleans, according to Bay Area News Group.

He also used a useful metaphor to explain his absence: "If somebody left IBM and went to Apple, if they were shutting IBM down, do you think that guy would go back and visit?"

Good point.

Montana also announced plans for one last hurrah: a flag football game to be played on the Candlestick turf.
