SoleRebels, Eco-Friendly African Shoe Store, Comes to San Jose

Fast-growing brand opens up flagship store in Silicon Valley

San Jose, prepare to "walk naked." That's the motto of SoleRebels, the "eco-friendly" Ethiopian shoe store that's opened up a "flagship" location at the Westfield Valley Fair Mall in San Jose, according to Forbes.

SoleRebels is the brainchild of Bethlehem Tilahun Alemu, and the San Jose location is the first retail location for the shoes in the United States, the website reported.

For that matter, SoleRebels is "the very first African consumer brand to ever open its own stand-alone branded retail location in the US," according to Forbes.

There are 18 stores worldwide, in Africa, Europe, and Asia.

Used tires make the shoes' soles, and leather from free-range cows go into the uppers.

Think of it as a Tom's alternative with a reggae soundtrack.
