Sonoma city leaders abandoned plans for a temporary ban on chain stores.
According to the Press Democrat, the decision comes after news that retail giant Williams-Sonoma wants to open a store in the city.
The original proposal called for a 45-day ban on large scale chain stores, to help protect the city's character.
The City Council scraped the plan last night, over conncerns that Sonoma was shutting out economic development.
