Sonoma County Child Molester Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison

A man was sentenced to five years in a state prison Thursday for sex crimes committed with children in Sonoma County, according to the District Attorney's office.

Prosecutors said 31-year-old Ivan Reyes pleaded no contest to two felony counts of lewd and lascivious acts up a child under the age of 14.

In 2014, a young female family member told police Reyes had sexually assaulted her in 2008 when she was 7 years old, and a second victim told police she was molested in 2010 when she was 9 years old.

According to prosecutors the crimes took place in the City of Sonoma, and defendant was arrested in late December of 2014 after allegedly admitting to the accusations to detectives.

"These young victims demonstrated incredible bravery in helping to bring this defendant to justice." District Attorney Jill Ravitch said in a statement. "Hopefully this will bring some sense of closure to this family."

Prosecutors said during the sentencing, the Honorable Patrick Broderick noted the extremely young ages of the victims and the time in between each crime.

Judge Broderick said the defendant had years between each assault to reflect, however instead chose to victimize another girl.
