SJ Daycare Worker Accused of Molesting Children

A San Jose elementary school that is no stranger to drama finds itself in a new saga.

Last summer an arson fire caused $10 million damage to Trace Elementary School.  Now a 25-year-old child care worker at the daycare center on school grounds faces charges of inappropriately touching children in his care during an after school program.

Keith Woodhouse was charged Friday, but police released details of the case Wednesday.  Prosecutors claim five girls, all younger than 10, reported being touched inappropriately in the classroom.  Woodhouse faces 14 counts of lewd acts on a child under 14.

The Mercury News reported that Woodhouse has worked with children in San Jose and LA since 1999 as a camp counselor, a day care teacher and a Sunday school teacher.  They also talked to a parent who said the school notified all parents of the incident this week. The woman told the paper she thought both the police and the after-school providers worked swiftly and professionally.

The daycare is on the school property, but not part of the San Jose Unified system.
