Southbound Caltrain Strikes Crossing Gate in Menlo Park

A southbound Caltrain struck a damaged crossing gate in Menlo Park during Tuesday's rush hour, authorities said.

The collision, which occurred at about 5:50 p.m., mangled the locomotive's air house, according to Caltrain.

Passengers disembarked and were transferred to other trains, Caltrain noted.

Caltrain posted on Twitter that another train coupled with the "wounded" equipment to move it out of the way. Both tracks were freed up at 7 p.m.
