Standoff Ends After Man Climbs on Roof of Lac Temple in San Jose

San Jose police arrested a man Sunday night who had refused to come down from  the roof – and was even throwing ceramic tiles down from - the Lac Temple.

The standoff ended about 9:20 p.m. when officers arrested the man on suspicion of felony vandalism and resisting arrest, Sgt. Enrique Garcia said.

Officers went to the temple at 1647 E. San Fernando St. at about 3:30 p.m. to do a welfare check, police said, after people called to report a man was on the temple's roof.

The man had threatened to jump during the standoff.
