State Agents Bust International Human Trafficking and Prostitution Ring

A network of brothels in Northern California uncovered in investigation, which led to the arrest of four people

A total of four people are behind bars facing charges of pimping young women.

Authorities recently busted an international human trafficking and prostitution ring, with one of the operations in an unsuspecting San Mateo County neighborhood.

Officials describe the operation as a network of brothels in Northern California.

State Department of Justice agents arrested three of the suspects in the Sacramento area Thursday and a fourth, 49-year-old Zhi Liu of San Mateo County.

The arrest happened in a housing complex across the street from the South San Francisco BART station.

Officials say young women were smuggled in from overseas, and then rotated between locations in the Bay Area and east coast.
