State Fair Heist Closer To $160K: Source

Two robbers who made their way into a food services office at Cal Expo late Wednesday night may have gotten away with more cash than previously thought.

A reliable source told KCRA in Sacramento that the robbers took nearly $160,000. Sacramento police earlier reported the amount at $100,000.

The robbers were dressed as food vendors when they went to the offices of Ovations Food Services in the State Fair Grandstand at about 10 p.m. Wednesday.

California State Fair spokesman Corey Egel said the fair wouldn't confirm how much money was taken. He said no one was injured in the heist.

Sacramento police helped with perimeter searches, air support and K-9 units Wednesday night.

All vehicles leaving the fair were searched, but the robbers weren't caught.

A detailed description of the men wasn't available because they had their faces covered.

Police said the robbers are considered armed and dangerous.
