Two South Carolina students were reunited with their stolen dog Tuesday, after their Facebook plea helped a San Francisco woman recognize the dog in an abandoned SUV.
Medical University of South Carolina students Victoria Walker and Pallavi Saraf were parked on Market Street for 15 minutes on Sunday when Walker came out of a Fed Ex storefront to see her black Volvo being driven away by a stranger with their German sheperd, Lady, in the backseat, she said on Facebook.
Walker and Saraf had been in San Francisco while traveling for #Operationoral, a campaign that educates the public about non-HPV and HPV associate oral cancers, according to the OperationOral Facebook page.
The woman who found Lady recognized her from Walker’s Facebook poster. Lady was alone in the stolen car, both of which were dumped in the Lower Haight neighborhood.
After Lady was reunited with her owners, Walker said on Facebook: “It is due to all of you who prayed for us, encouraged us, and helped in sharing our post on Facebook that a woman was able to read our story and identified our car.”
Lady and her owners are now headed back to South Carolina.
