Livermore police on Thursday ended up firing shots at a man they say was suicidal, and who had apparently killed himself just outside the gate of a police station parking lot before they shot their guns.
According to a statement, the suicidal man was armed with a gun and was found about 3 a.m. in the back of the police station parking lot. As officers approached him, police said, the man fired the shotgun, blowing out his back winders.
One officer returned fire, police said.
When police approached the man’s car, they saw that he had died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
No officers were injured as a result of this shooting.
