Sunnyvale Man, 28, Accused of Sexually Assaulting 4 Children

Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety detectives have arrested a 28-year-old man on charges that he allegedly sexually assaulted four children -- all between the ages of 3 and 8.

Michael Alexander Anthony was arrested Feb. 11 after one of the minors recently came forward, public safety officers said in a statement. The alleged assaults occurred between 1999 and 2005.

"We want them to feel confident that we're going to do everything under the law to protect them, as well as make right the situation that occurred," Sunnyvale Police Capt. Jeff Hunter said. "And by sharing that information, there are confidentiality rules and laws in the state, and we will absolutely adhere to all of those to protect their identities the best we possibly can."

One of the victims recently told a friend about an alleged assault by Anthony, according to police. When that conversation made it back to the parents, they contacted police.

With the help of the San Jose Police Department Sexual Assault Unit, computer examiners said they found child pornography on Anthony’s computers at his Sunnyvale home.

Police said they believe the assaults happened near Anthony's home, which is located near El Camino Real and Cezanne Drive.

Police said they have reason to believe there are more victims. Anyone with information related to Anthony and possible victims to contact Sunnyvale Detective Michael Mendoza at (408) 730-7130.
