Sunnyvale Station Sells $289,341 Powerball Ticket

A gas station in Sunnyvale has sold a Powerball ticket worth almost $290,000 but the winner has yet to come forward.

The winner who matched all five numbers but not the Powerball hasn't come forward yet.  But Paul Nijjar, who owns the Shell gas station on Lawrence Expressway, wonders if it could be the person who bought $70 in Powerball tickets on Thursday.

Though most statisticians will tell you, that person has about the same odds as someone who bought just one ticket.   Nine Lotto retailers in the state of California sold second place tickets worth $289,341.  Three people outside the state picked all five numbers plus the Powerball.

One of the jackpot winners was sold in Minnesota, the other two in New Jersey.   They will split the $448 million dollar jackpot. Those winning numbers are 5, 25, 30, 58, 59 and Powerball 32.
