BART set a record Saturday for ridership on a weekend day by carrying 419,162 passengers or about 100,000 more than the previous record, BART officials announced today.
Preliminary numbers released earlier today indicated that 354,000 or more people rode BART on Saturday.
Saturday's record followed BART's third busiest day on record on Friday when trains carried 528,679 passengers, according to BART officials.
BART officials will be running longer than normal trains on Monday to San Francisco International Airport to accommodate fans leaving the area.
Wednesday and Thursday were also days when record numbers of passengers rode BART. The agency served the sixth highest number of passengers on Thursday and the eighth highest number on Wednesday.
