    Suspect Arrested, Charged After Teen Dragged in Hit-and-Run

    A suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with an Oakland hit-and-run in which a 14-year-old bicyclist was struck by a vehicle and dragged at least four blocks, police announced Sunday. Sergio Quintana reports. (Published Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019)

    A suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with an Oakland hit-and-run in which a 14-year-old bicyclist was struck by a vehicle and dragged at least four blocks, police announced Sunday.

    Leah Conner faces a number of charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, reckless driving resulting in serious injury and leaving the scene of an accident, according to officials.

    The hit-and-run happened on Jan. 2 along the 1100 block of 35th Avenue, according to police. The driver struck the boy as he was riding on a bicycle and dragged him for at least four blocks.

    The driver eventually came to a stop, enabling the boy to be freed from underneath the vehicle, according to police. The severely injured teen was left on the street as the driver left the scene.

    Authorities have one person of interest in custody in connection with an Oakland hit-and-run in which a 14-year-old boy was struck and dragged four blocks, according to police.

    The teenager was taken to a hospital where he remains in critical condition, police said.

    A passenger was also in the vehicle when the hit-and-run occurred, according to police.
