Suspect Evades Santa Clara County Sheriff's Deputy, Slams Into San Jose House

A suspect vehicle crashed into a home early Monday morning following a traffic stop by a Santa Clara County Sheriff’s deputy.

A watch commander told NBC Bay Area that a deputy tried to stop a driver who either ran a stop sign or red light about 1:30a.m., when the suspect took off and ended up slamming into a home at 1120 Park Ave. near San Jose.

The collision caused a gas leak, the watch commander said, and firefighters raced to help. A red SUV with major front end damage was towed away from the home before sunrise on Monday, and the home looked like it suffered some damage under a front window, leaving the structure intact.

The suspect ran away and deputies were out searching for him.
