Suspect Shot By CHP Officer in Oakland; Police K-9 Injured

A suspect was shot by a California Highway Patrol officer in East Oakland Tuesday night, according to Oakland police.

The shooting was reported at about 9 p.m. on Wentworth Avenue between Bancroft and 55th avenues, Oakland police said.

The CHP officer made a vehicle stop there and someone in the car ran and turned on the officer with a gun, police said.

The CHP said that there was a foot pursuit and a police dog was deployed to stop the suspect and was injured.

The officer shot the suspect, but neither Oakland police nor the CHP have disclosed the extent of the suspect's injuries.
