Suspect Wanted After SWAT Standoff

Elderly woman says her son pointed a gun at her

Fairfield police think there may be an armed and dangerous man hiding somewhere in a neighborhood this morning - after a SWAT standoff that lasted for hours overnight.

A 75-year-old woman called police to her home on Dural Avenue at around 8:20 last night.

She told officers her 30-year-old son, Michael Austin, had pointed a gun at her and choked her nearly unconscious.

After hours spent trying to coax Austin out of the house, the Fairfield SWAT team got search and arrest warrants - and then burst into the house early this morning ... only to find that Austin was already gone.

So far, officers haven't been able to find Austin in the immediate area around the house.

Police consider Austin armed and dangerous.

He is wanted for two counts of assault, elder abuse, and terrorist threats.

Anyone with information about Austin's whereabouts is asked to call the Fairfield Police Department at (707) 428-7300.
