A suspect has been identified in the Sunday fatal shooting of a man in Danville, police said Monday.

Authorities were looking for Mark Allan Sypien, 51, of Dublin in connection with the fatal shooting of 76-year-old John Moore in an industrial park on the border of Danville and San Ramon Sunday afternoon, police said.

Homicide suspect Mark Sypien was said to be driving 2003 silver Ford Escape with Illinois license plate 1008122.

Police were called to the industrial park located along the 3400 block of Fostoria Way after someone called 911 to report gunshots in the neighborhood. Arriving officers found Moore in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Chief Allan Shields said Monday an arrest warrant for murder has been issued for Sypien in the shooting. Investigators did not release a motive or if the two men knew each other.

"We don’t believe this is a random act," Shields said.

Sypien is described as a white male, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing about 185 pounds, with gray hair and green eyes.

He was last seen driving a 2003 Silver Ford Escape with Illinois license plate 1008122, police said.

Moore was the former president of the Danville Rotary Club, and a friend Monday described him as someone who was "always willing to help."

Anyone seeing Sypien should contact the police immediately. Anyone with information on Sypien’s whereabouts or any information on the case should contact police at (925) 314-3702 or via Nixle by texting “Tip DanPD’ and your tip to 888777.
