Suspicious Briefcase Causes Church Street MUNI to Shut Down in San Francisco

Church Street MUNI station is expected to reopen soon. San Francisco Police Department officers checked the suspicious briefcase and confirmed that it is not a threat. 

A suspicious briefcase was reported at the Church Street MUNI station at 8 p.m. Sunday, causing the station to shut down, per San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal team were on scene at around 9:20 p.m. Vehicle and pedestrian traffic were diverted until EOD completed the assessment, per SFMTA. 

Delays have been reported since trains are not going through the Church Street station. SFMTA officials said trains have been switched back, turned around and brought back to prior stations.
